Scenarios for the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 implementation were presented by the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Centre on 28 March 2018. The seminar was held in the framework of the project “Long-Term Energy Modelling and Forecasting in Ukraine: Scenarios for the Action Plan of Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035”. This project has been implemented as a part of the Environmentally Friendly Sustainable Energy initiative within the framework of the Energy Partnership Program between Ukraine and Denmark. From 18 to 20 March 2019, the Ukrainian delegation composed of representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, SE NPC “Ukrenergo” and the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association studied the Denmark's experience in balancing the energy system, security of supply and demand management. A series of workshops and meetings were held in Denmark within the framework of bilateral intergovernmental cooperation under the Agreement on Development and Co-operation of the Ukraine-Denmark Energy Centre (UDEC) concluded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. A scientific and practical conference “Implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On the Electricity Market” was held in Slavske, Lviv region, from 12 March to 15 March 2019. The issues discussed at the conference included the current status of the energy sector and energy market of Ukraine, information support and monitoring of electricity supply security in the new electricity market, forecast and daily power production etc. Timely transition to a new model of the Ukrainian electricity market and elimination of barriers that delay this process was also a focus of discussion. Second Ukrainian NDC Methodological Workshop organized by the Climate Change and Ozone Layer Protection Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine within the framework of the EBRD project “Support to the Government of Ukraine on Updating its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), was held on 13 March 2019 in Kyiv. The project is being implemented by the Institute for Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The seminar participants discussed the objectives, methodological aspects and modelling tools for the GHG emissions scenarios in Ukraine by sectors. In particular, the participants paid special attention to modelling tolls for such sectors as: energy and industrial processes, land use, agriculture and forestry, and the waste sector.

Memorandum on Partnership and Cooperation between the Public Organisation “Scientific and Technical Association of Power Electrical Engineers of Ukraine (NTSEU)” and the Public Union “Ukrainian Wind Energy Association” was signed at the Tenth Ukrainian Energy Forum (28 February 2019, Kyiv). Parties identified the following areas of mutual cooperation: exchange of information on promoting wind, solar and other RES technologies; exchange of information, experience and materials on attracting investments, creation of favourable investment climate; identification of topical problems, barriers to implementation of wind energy technologies in Ukraine, wind power generation and potential solutions; co-organization and joint participation in forums, seminars, business meetings on investment activities in the energy sector of Ukraine. It is to be noted that Memorandum is an open agreement between two organisations.
The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took part in the ceremonial launch of the first wind turbines of Prymorska Wind Power Plant held on 27 February 2019 in Zaporizhzhia Regio. The operation of Prymorska WPP will allow to increase “green” energy output in Ukraine by 650-700 mln kWh annually. This will bring Ukraine closer to the strategic goal of diversifying energy sources and strengthening energy independence. “The new energy sector is one of the most important issues of our country's progress. We need to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy balance. On 25 February 2019, a workshop “Managing a renewable energy project: construction and commissioning - on time, on budget and on project design” organized by Sayenko Kharenko law firm was successfully held in Kyiv. Partners of the event included the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and other professional associations. The overall capacity of all wind turbines installed worldwide by the end of 2018 reached 600 GW, according to Press Release published by WWEA on 25 February 2019. 53’900 Megawatt were added in the year 2018, slightly more than in 2017 when 52’552 Megawatt were installed. All wind turbines installed by end of 2018 can cover close to 6% of the global electricity demand. The year 2018 was mainly characterised by new dynamics: While most European states showed weak development, including Germany, Spain, France and Italy, robust or even stronger growth was observed in countries such as China, India, Brazil, many other Asian markets and also some African countries. On 31 January 2019 a press conference dedicated to the GLOBAL 100% RE UKRAINE platform was held in Kiev. The event was initiated by the RE industry associations of Ukraine, while the idea was inspired by Ruslana Lyzhychko, Ambassador for the Global 100% RE.
