Novoazovskaya wind power plant (Donetsk region), one of the largest private-owned wind energy projects in Ukraine, will receive an EBRD loan of up to EUR 33.3 million and a parallel loan of up to EUR 15.5 million from the Clean Technology Fund (CTF). According to the EBRD press service a wind farm with installed capacity of 57.5 MW, consisting of 23 wind turbines Fürhlander, generates about 175 GWh of electricity per year which reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 140,000 tons.
“The funding is the first "limited recourse" financing deal in the Ukrainian renewable energy sector, which means that Novoazovskaya WPP - established solely to generate electricity - does not require external guarantees for the purposes of loan repayment. The financing structure should encourage private investors to develop similar projects across the country. In addition, the project will be a significant environmental benchmark, promoting renewable energy in one of the most industrialized regions of Ukraine”, says the statement.
Novoazovskaya WPP was commissioned in March 2012 in Donetsk region. In 2012 it fed 136 000 MWh into the grid. In 2013 it’s planned to generate 154000 MWh of “green” electricity.
