On September 24, 2019, Kyiv hosted the International Conference “Energy Sector of Ukraine - Effective Sector for Attracting Investments”, organized by the public organisation “Association of Ukrainian and Arab Businessmen and Investors” (AUABI).
The conference aimed at supporting the development of renewable energy in Ukraine, attracting additional investment in the national energy sector and promoting Ukraine as a country actively developing renewable energies at the national and international levels, brought together project owners, managers and representatives of the energy industry and banking sector of Ukraine and the Arab countries, energy experts. At the invitation of AUABI Chairman Mohammad Salim Alotti, the conference was attended by a delegation of Arab investors headed by Mohammad Al Faanache, Secretary General of the Commission on Renewable Energy of the Arab Republics (AREC).
“AREC goals at promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency culture in all areas of life. Future investments in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency in Arab countries will exceed USD 500 billion and USD 200 billion in Europe by 2035”, said Al Faanache.
Speaking at the conference Andriy Konechenkov, the Chairman of the UWEA Board called on delegates for cooperation: “Over the past two years, the renewable energy market of Ukraine has been demonstrating rapid growth due to the attractive legislative framework in the country. Today, only the wind energy sector has more than 6 MW of capacities, which are at different stages of implementation and require investments. Cooperration beetween businessmen from Ukraine and Arab countries can contribute to the construction of new solar and wind plants in the country”.
The UWEA and the AUBI decided to conclude a Memorandum of Cooperation and Partnership between the two organizations.
