UWEA Board Meeting to sum up the UWEA’s activity in 2020 and determine priority areas for 2021

The UWEA Board meeting involving the UWEA members took place on 16 December 2020 to sum up the UWEA’s activity in 2020 and determine priority areas for 2021. The Board members expressed great satisfaction with the work of the UWEA Secretariat in 2020.

The priority focus areas for 2021includes:
Monitoring of the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and Law of Ukraine No 810-IX by the Government;
Development of the Roadmap for the wind energy development in Ukraine with its further incorporation to a new (update) energy strategy of Ukraine;
Offshore wind energy development and  “green” hydrogen production
Distributed generation (WPPS up to 5 MW);
RES Auctions;
New models for wind development in Ukraine based on market prices and competition including, Guarantee of Origin, CfD etc.

A decision was made on forming four working groups within the UWEA:

  • Working Group on monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding and Law of Ukraine No 810-IX by the Government;
  • Working Group on developing legislative framework for offshore wind  development and hydrogen production in Ukraine (headed by Oleksandr Riepkin, president of the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council and adviser to the Minister for Foreign Affairs)
  • Working Group on developing Roadmaps for the wind energy development in Ukraine for the periods until 2025 and 2030
  • Working Group on implementing models for wind project development based on market prices without using “green” tariff mechanism including CfD, Guarantee of Origin, distributed generation (headed by Uiriy Zhabskiy, director of the Wind Farm LLC)

All UWEA members are kindly invited to join and participate in the working groups.
