Wind Parks of Ukraine, one of Ukraine's leading wind energy companies with over 10 years of experience in the national renewable energy sector, has completed the installation of the first wind turbine at Ostrovsky Wind Park, located in the Nyzhnevoritska community on the border of Lviv and Zakarpattia regions.
Wind turbine produced by Ukrainian company Friendly Windtechnology has a unit capacity of 4.8 MW, a hub height of 120 m, and a rotor diameter of 152 m
When completed, the Ostrovsky Wind Park will have a total installed capacity of 80 MW. The amount of electricity to be generated is enough to provide annually about 50,000 households with clean electricity.
Environmentally friendly electricity is not the only advantage that the local community will benefit from the electricity generated by Ostrovsky Wind Park. The social partnership agreement concluded between Ostrovsky Wind Park and the Nyzhnevoritska community provides for 3% of the revenue from electricity sales to be allocated to the community budget. In other words - nearly one and a half million hryvnia for roads, schools, kindergartens, and sports facilities per year. It should be mentioned that upon completion of the wind park, this figure will be multiplied by the number of installed wind turbines (16-17 wind turbines, based on the wind park's total capacity).
Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board: “The peculiarities of the project are that both the wind turbine manufacturer and the company implementing the project are Ukrainian ones. In other words, we are talking about a wind project of “100% Ukrainian origin”, which not only contributes to the energy independence and economy of the country and the region but also has a large social component.
On behalf of the UWEA, I congratulate the UWEA member companies MC Wind Parks of Ukraine and Friendly Wind Technologies, on this significant achievement and wish them further success on the path of “green” transformation of our country.”
