The official launching of the children’s book “Sekrety Vitru” (The Secrets of Wind) took place in the UKRINFORM news agency on 27 January 2021. The book initiated by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and co-sponsored by the Heinrich Böll Foundation Kyiv Office Ukraine and the UWEA, describes adventures of Max and his friends – a professor, Alina and a smart electric car Moby-El. Heroes explore the “secrets” of wind, learn about wind energy and how to take care of the Environment. With this book for kids aged 6-12, the publishing house “Ridna Mova” has launched a special series of books “Children for Clean Planet”.
“The Secrets of Wind” by Galyna Shmidt, the UWEA Board member and Galyna Maniv, a children's writer from publishing house “Ridna Mova”, is a real kind of nonfiction with vivid adventures of the main heroes. Its lively, easy-to-understand content takes your breath away.
“The education of respectfulness to the nature as well as usage of clean (renewable) energy sources should begin in childhood. The book “The Secrets of the wind” is not just about the wind as a natural phenomenon (element), but also about the wind power technology, and our reverence for nature as well”, Galyna Shmidt commented.
“I’m deeply convinced that such books will raise a new, environmentally responsible generation with clear understanding of the importance of renewable energy”, Galyna Maniv, a co-author.
The book was published under general supervision of Andriy Konechenkov, the Chairman of the UWEA Board, who knows “the real secrets of the wind” as much as anyone: “The modern wind power industry is a huge sector of global economy. However, public awareness of the “green” energy transition, the renewable energy sources, and the operation of “green” power plants are still quite low. That is why, the UWEA initiated this book to explain the children all features and benefits of wind technology by simple, understandable language.”
According to Yurii Shafarenko, Deputy Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine “such publication is a direct investment in the future of our children”.
