On December 16, 2019, Kyiv hosted the second Green Forum “ECO- transformation – 2019”, which brought together key players of energy and environment markets, those leading Ukraine to a new paradigm - “green” economy, “green” GDP, new quality of life and environment. The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association was one of the informational partners.
This year Forum focused on issues related to transformation of consciousness, cities, businesses and the whole Ukraine, the role of local authorities in greening their city, the successful path to eco-transformation and eco-education.
More than 50 eco-stakeholders including governmental officials, business, and civil society were awarded with Eco-Oskar prize. Carl Sturen, founder and GM of “Vindkraft Ukraine”, was awarded with Eco–Oscar for his considerable contribution to the successful “green” transformation of Ukraine, promotion of environmentally friendly production and support of eco-specialists.
During the Eco-Oscar awards ceremony Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board and WWEA Vice-President, noted that Carl Sturen earned the award: “Vindkraft, a company headed by Carl, has become a leader in new wind energy projects implemented in Ukraine in 2019. The peculiarity of Vindkrafts' projects is not only the construction of new wind capacities and generation of environmentally friendly electricity, but they also ensure provision of agricultural sector of Kherson region with “green” energy. For Vindkraft their business social and environmental responsibility is of vital importance”.
President of the Professional Ecologists Association of Ukraine and Forum`s inspirer, Lyudmyla Tsyhanok stressed: “Through implementation of the “EСО-transformation” project we strive to support those who started the changes despite a lot of barriers and obstacles. Of course, all ratings have their supporters and sceptics. But this project is not about competition! The goal of saving the environment has no competitors, there is no criterion to show what is more important: to protect water or air, to build eco-awareness or improve legislation. In the field of greening, every step is crucial, every victory must be scaled”.
“The main global problems of our future are coal, oil and global economy polluting our planet! The world and humanity need clean and honest energy. Obviously, Ukraine's priority should be clean growth - clean energy - clean GDP. Without ECO-transformation of economy and energy, we won`t get clean and “green” GDP” - continued Oleksandr Dombrovskyy, Chairman of the “Global 100 RE UKRAINE” Board, who also was awarded with Eco-Oscar prize.
The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association sincerely congratulates all award-winning leaders of environmental transformation and wishes them patience and dedication in leading our country to the new “green” paradigm.
