Authorization
This year, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) celebrates its 15th anniversary. Founded in 2008, throughout these 15 years, the association has always been at the forefront of promoting wind energy in Ukraine, protecting the interests and supporting the activities of both, the national and international stakeholders of the Ukraine wind power market. Today, the UWEA unites 90 companies from 14 countries, including investors, wind turbine manufacturers, developers, designers, environmentalists, lawyers, builders, and transporters.
Thanks to the hard work of our members, Ukraine’s wind power capacity has reached 1.86 GW. Even the war could not stop the wind deployment in Ukraine, as three new wind farms totaling 228 MW have been commissioned since the war began.
We have a lot of hard work ahead of us especially with decarbonizing our economy and delivering the ambitious goals set out in the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050! Ukraine needs more green generation. We must transform the outdated, centralized power system built in Soviet times into a new, resilient, and flexible one with a large share of distributed generation. We are convinced that the future energy system of Ukraine should and will be based on renewable energy sources.
