The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association sincerely congratulates DTEK Group on signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Vestas to complete the construction of the Tiligulska wind farm in Ukraine. The 500 MW wind farm project, which is supported by the European Commission and the governments of Ukraine and Denmark, is the largest one in Eastern Europe, with total investments exceeding EUR 650 million.
A Memorandum of Understanding between DTEK and Vestas, the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer, was signed on December 4, 2023, at the UN Climate Conference COP28 in the presence of European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson and Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko (via video link). According to the Memorandum, the Danish company will supply wind turbines to Ukraine for the construction of the second stage of the Tyligulska wind farm.
The second phase of the wind farm will consist of 64 wind turbines (6 MW each) with a total capacity of 384 MW. The first stage with a capacity of 114 MW (19 wind turbines of 6 MW each) was commissioned in spring 2023.
Construction of the wind farm is scheduled for 2024-2025. The installed wind turbines are expected to be gradually connected to the grid from the end of 2024. Investments in the second phase of the Tyligulska wind farm will amount to EUR 450 million and will be financed by the company and leading Western banks under state guarantees.
After the second stage is commissioned, the Tyligulska wind farm will generate about 1.7 TWh of electricity annually. This is enough for the needs of 900 thousand households. The project is expected to save annually around 1.7 million tons of CO2 emissions.
