CHAPLYNSKA WIND FARM TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN KHERSON REGION

IEA pubic hearings on 300 MW Chaplynska wind power plant (including 150 kV transmission lines and 3 transformer substations 150/35 kV) implemented by Vindkraft Kalanchak LLC were successfully held on 29 August 29, 2019 in Chaplynsky and Kalanchatsky districts of Kherson region. 1,051,200 MWh of “green” electricity is estimated to be generated from the local renewable energy source - wind per year, enough to provide 219,000 households with clean electricity. The operation of the Chaplynskaya WPP will reduce carbon oxide emissions by about 1,043,316 tons annually.

The hearings conducted in 3 amalgamated territorial communities of Kalanchak and Chaplynska districts – Myrnenska, Prysyvashska and Chaplynska were attended by representatives of local communities, the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, scientists-authors of the Scientific Report on Chaplynska WPP Natural Complexes Impact Assessment and Eco Svit LLC – a developer of the Chaplynska WPP Environmental Impact Assessment Report. The public earing meetings were organised by the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Kherson Region State administration.

“UWEA welcomes Vindkraft Kalanchak with a new wind power project in the Kherson region, which will provide the region and Ukraine with clean electricity and strengthen the path of our country to energy independence”, said the Board Chairman of the UWEA, Vice-President of the WWEA Andriy Konechenkov.

Petro Gorlov, Senior Researcher, PD in Biology, Associate Professor, Scientific and Research Centre Biodiversity of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky Melitopil State Pedagogical University, presented the outcomes of Chaplynska WPP Impact Assessment on Natural Complexes of the Azov-Black Sea region, conducted by the scientists and experts in compliance with norms and standards of the Ukrainian and European legislations: “The impact of the Chaplynska WPP on regional natural complexes has been studied for several years. Based on researches carried out in the region we concluded on possibility of construction and exploitation of the Chaplynska WPP. Of course we'll continue monitoring regional natural complexes during construction and exploitation phases of the project”.
