A press-conference "Wind Energy Industry in Ukraine: Prospects for Emerging Industry" devoted to the Global Wind Day was successfully conducted on June 14, 2013 in the premises of press-center of Internet Publisher "OBOZREVATEL".
Press conference speakers included:
-Andrei Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of the UWEA;
- Nikolay Savchuk, Member of the Board of the UWEA, owner manager of Gresa Group Ltd;
- Vitaly Zagudaev, director of Fuhrlaender Windtehnology LLC .
During the press conference the UWEA presented the 5th Anniversary Booklet of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association. The booklet also includes chapters devoted to the history of wind power industry in Ukraine and its current trends.
Noting the progress made in the sector of small wind power in Ukraine, Mykola Savchuk stressed that the lack of green tariff for small wind in the current Ukrainian legislation not only hinders the development of the sector, but also leads to a reduction in the production of small wind turbines of Ukrainian designs that have already proved their reliability and efficiency. "If there is no state support for small wind power, the further development of the national sector of small wind power can stop. Already today, the small wind turbines factories are closing in Ukraine, while wind turbines of Ukrainian origin are popular not only in Ukraine but also abroad: in France, Portugal, Germany, Kazakhstan ", drew the attention of journalists present at the press conference, Nikolay Savchuk.
One of the main benefits of the global wind industry development is the creation of new jobs. This process is, in turn, directly related to the economic growth of the country. Speaking at a press conference Vitaly Zagudaev proudly said: "The investments that have been made in the Ukrainian company to localize the production of wind power equipment amounted to about 250 mln UAH. By today, we have already created about 800 jobs in the energy sector. Thus, the "locomotive" - which our company Furleander Windtechnolodgy is - by creating one workplace in our company, creates another 4-5 jobs in the related businesses.
According to wind growth rate Ukraine took the second place in Europe after Romania. The installed capacity exceeds 300 MW. "We are the leaders among all the post-Soviet countries in the field of wind energy - said Andrey Konechenkov. - However, the main problem the industry is facing today is an uncertainty as to the connection of new wind capacities to the Ukrainian grid. A number of steps are required to be taken urgently for further development of wind energy sector in Ukraine. In particular, to develop a long-term plan for grid integration of renewable energy generating capacities, to introduce changes in the updated Energy strategy of Ukraine to increase the development of renewable energy in the country, as well as to amend the Law of Ukraine "On Electric Power Industry" with respect to the sale of electricity under a "green" tariff for small scale wind turbines."
