On 20 December 2016, the eve of Energy Workers' Day of Ukraine, Prychornomorskiy wind park which is a part of the Ochakovska WPP was officially commissioned in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. Ochakovska wind power plant, which is a part of the Wind Parks of Ukraine Group, comprises 2 wind turbines with unit capacity of 2 MW. Two more Ukrainian-produced wind turbines of 3 MW each are planned for installation in 2017.
The Prychornomorskiy wind park is the first RE generating facility in Ukraine that has received a 10% premium to the “green" tariff envisaged by the current legislation for the use of the equipment of Ukrainian origin at a power plant.
At its open meeting on 7 November 2016 the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission established a 10% premium to the “green” tariff for the use of equipment of Ukrainian origin at the first starting complex of the Ochakovska WPP (the sixth phase of the Dmitrovskiy wind park).
Such decision on establishing a premium to the “green” tariff was made by the national regulator for the first time since introduction of the corresponding provision in the Ukrainian RE laws in 2015. Remarkable is also the fact the company met required 50% of the domestically manufactured equipment and received a maximum 10% premium.
Wind turbines were produced by "Fuhrlaender Wind Technology", a Ukrainian manufacturer of wind power equipment, in cooperation with six Ukrainian largest machine-building plants such as Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant, PJSC "Novokramatorsky Machine Building Plant", PJSC “Energomashspetsstal” and others.
“The Ochokpvska WPP is not the first, but is the only one in the country among the RE generating facilities that received a maximum 10% premium. This creates real incentives for the development of the national wind industry and new jobs”, commented Vladyslav Ieremenko, general director of the Management Company “Wind Parks of Ukraine”.
Speaking at the opening ceremony Chairman of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration Alexei Savchenko noted: “Today I’d like to thank all the workers from Kramotorsk involved in manufacturing this wind turbine for their excellent work in these hard times, for their contribution to the economical development of Ukraine”.
“The development of any industry is connected with the development of its own manufacturing basis. Wind energy is no exception. This technology has already proved to be economically advantageous technology for countries with good wind resources and available production basis; and our country has promising wind potential as well as highly qualified labour force and manufacturing facilities”, stressed Andriy Konechenkov, UWEA Board Chairman, WWEA Vice-President.
As of end of 2016 total installed wind capacity amounts to 438 MW in Ukraine (wind capacities in the AR Crimea excluded).
