Kazakhstan has become the second country on the territory of the former USSR with introduced feed-in tariff for electricity generated from the RES.
On April 1, 2009 the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine “On Amending the Law of Ukraine “On Electric Power Industry” as to Stimulation of Alternative Energy Sources Use” according to which the preferential tariffs were offered to business entities to produce electric power from various types of renewable energy sources. Since that time the wind capacity in the country has increased from 87,5 MW (end 2009) to 497 (June 2014), including 88 MW installed in the Crimea.
In compliance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Support of the Usage of the Renewable Energy Sources” from July 4, 2009, the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan introduced feed-in tariff for electricity generated from the RES by its Decree from June 12, 2014. Tariffs are valid for 15 years.
