RENEWABLES GLOBAL FUTURES REPORT: GREAT DEBATES TOWARDS 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY

The REN21 multi-stakeholder network released its latest report on the feasibility and challenges of achieving a 100% renewable energy future on 3 April 2017. 
Report key findings include: 
•    More than 70% of the experts interviewed consider a global transition to 100% renewable energy to be both feasible and realistic, with European and Australian experts most strongly supporting this view.
•    There is an overwhelming consensus that renewable power will dominate in the future, with many noting that even large international corporations are increasingly choosing renewable energy products either from utilities or through direct investment in their own generating capacity.
•    Numerous companies, regions, islands and cities have set 100% renewable energy targets.
•    Nearly 70% of those interviewed expect the cost of renewables to continue to fall, beating all fossil fuels...

NEW WIND ADDITIONS IN KHERSON REGION

The Danish company Vestas is to deliver 12 turbines totalling 41.4MW to Vindkraft Tavriya LLC for the Novotroitska wind farm located in Novotroitsk district. Delivery and commissioning of V126 3.45MW machines are planned for the third quarter of 2017. The deal also includes a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution. NEW STANDARD BOLSTERS LIDARS

IEC rule allows the measurement of wind turbine performance testing The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has released a new standard that includes lidar measurements for wind turbine and resource assessments.
The IEC 61400-12-1:2017 standard delivers the technical basis for the acceptance of lidar measurements for wind turbine power performance testing and wind resource assessments.
This is because it formally allows the use of lidar as a supplementary or alternative measurement technique to mast-mounted cup anemometers.

TECHNICAL AND LEGAL ASPECTS OF IMPLEMENTING WIND ENERGY PROJECTS IN UKRAINE

Workshop entitled “Technical and legal aspects of implementing wind energy projects in Ukraine. Prospects for development” organised by the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association in cooperation with Law Firm Dentons and Deutsche WindGuard GmbH was successfully held in Kiev on 23 February 2017.  Key issues discussed at the event included: technical management of a wind farm, possibilities for financing, legal abd practical aspects of implementing wind projects in Ukraine, current status of wind industry and priorities for development in 2017.  The workshop was attended by representatives of the Ukrainian wind companies - members of the UWEA, international and Ukrainian financial institutions, state industry bodies. On Amending Some Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Improvement of Urban Planning Activities

The Law of Ukraine «On Amending Some Legislative Acts of Ukraine Regarding Improvement of Urban Planning Activities» No. 1817-VIII of 17 January 2017 (hereafter the «Law») was signed by the President of Ukraine on 8 February 2017 and published on 10 February 2017.  According to the Law the term «category of complexity»  will be replaced with the term «class of consequences» (responsibility).There will be 3 classes of consequences (responsibility) as follows:
-        СС1 – Low consequences;
-        СС2 – Medium consequences;
-        СС3 – High consequences. «GREEN» BONUS FOR OCHAKOVSKA WPP

On 20 December 2016, the eve of Energy Workers' Day of Ukraine, Prychornomorskiy wind park which is a part of the Ochakovska WPP was officially commissioned in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. Ochakovska wind power plant, which is a part of the Wind Parks of Ukraine Group, comprises 2 wind turbines with unit capacity of 2 MW. Two more Ukrainian-produced wind turbines of 3 MW each are planned for installation in 2017. The Prychornomorskiy wind park is the first RE generating facility in Ukraine that has received a 10% premium to the “green" tariff envisaged by the current legislation for the use of the equipment of Ukrainian origin at a power plant. UKRAINIAN-DANISH ENERGY CENTRE TO FACILITATE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND RENEWABLE ENERGY DEVELOPMENT IN UKRAINE

On 12 December 2016 Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine published its press release devoted to the implementation of the Project "Ukrainian-Danish Energy Centre". The UWEA is pleased to advise that RE experts form Denmark including specialists from Danish Technological University, Energy Agency of Denmark will contribute to creating a sophisticated hourly wind power forecasting system in Ukraine. It will improve the planning of wind power delivery to the energy system of Ukraine."
