Disseminating energy-efficient practices and sharing experience of using the latest wind energy technologies as well as promoting domestic production of wind power equipment form the basis of the memorandum signed between the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) and the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA).
"Innovative technologies that are being used in the developed countries of the world are still unavailable for us. This situation is caused by their high cost and a low level of awareness of energy efficiency"- said the Chairman of the Agency M. Pashkevych, commenting on the signing of the memorandum.
He noted that nowadays the Government of Ukraine carries out an extensive international cooperation in order to attract the best experience, creates favorable conditions for the use and manufacture of equipment used in the wind power. At the same time, according to M. Pashkevych, the cooperation with specialized associations is extremely important. Because only combined efforts of the state, business and society can facilitate effective development and movement forward.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association Andriy Konechenkov also stresses that modern wind power technologies in the world are developing faster than technologies using fossil fuels. Andriy Konechenkov is sure that Ukraine has great potential for "green" energy development. According to him, creation of favorable conditions for implementing modern technologies and manufacturing wind turbines will lead to reduction of procurement of the imported energy products and creation of new jobs.
The Chairman of the SAEE and the Chairman of the UWEA consider the signing to be an important event for the wind energy industry in Ukraine. "The partnership between the specialized association that brings together the main players in the wind energy, and the state agency responsible for energy efficiency and renewable energy development in Ukraine is extremely important for making decisions that will promote development of small and medium enterprises in the sphere of wind energy. The UWEA and the SAEE have already been cooperating for several years and the signing of the memorandum has become a logical continuation of the joint work", - said Andriy Konechenkov.
Background information: In the framework of the memorandum the parties will cooperate on: improving state standards in the sphere of wind energy and their harmonization with the European and international ones, preparing statistic data in the wind energy sector in Ukraine, improving the process of obtaining permits to implement wind energy projects in Ukraine.
Besides, the memorandum foresees many public events including: the annual wind power conference CISWIND (wind power in the CIS and Eastern Europe); the exclusive seminar on wind studies organized jointly with the German Wind Energy Institute DEWI that will be held on November 6, 2013; the V International Investment Business Forum on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy that will take place on November 5-7, 2013 and the exhibition "Energy Efficiency. Renewable Energy-2013".
