Integration of Ukrainian Energy System with European one

Ukraine needs to confirm to the Western partners of ENTSO-E Secretariat its commitment to the full integration of the Ukraine’s Unified Energy System with the European. This was one of the main messages from the scientific and practical conference "Synchronous operation of the Ukraine’s Unified Energy System with ENTSO-E. Integration. Possibilities. Challenges" organized by the All-Ukrainian Energy Assembly on 25-26 February 2016 in Lviv.

Representatives from Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine, State Electricity and Utilities Regulative Commission, State Enterprise National Energy Company Ukrenergo, energy companies and design institutes participated in the event. 

Ivan Plachkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Energy Assembly said: “All these years all of us, each at their own level, has been contributing to improvement of the technical condition of our energy system and its competitiveness. The integration of our energy system with the European one will change the relationship between the natural monopolies and consumers. European integration vector will bring this relationship to a high European level; increase transparency of the energy market. Consumers will have clear and economically grounded tariffs for energy supply”. 

Roadmap to strengthen Ukraine's energy market integration with the ENTSO-E has been defined by the participants.

Speaking at the conference Andriy Konechenkov, UWEA’s Chairman noted: “Today’s conference showed the electricity transmission system operators' intention to create a stable and competitive electricity market in Ukraine. It gives a positive signal to the market, indicating a willingness to integrate the Ukrainian energy system with the European one”.
