The VIII KAZENERGY Forum “Energy of the Future: Eurasian Perspectives” was successfully took place on October 809, 2013 in Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the Forum top managers, experts and analysts of national and private companies, government bodies, investment and consulting firms involved in the energy sector discussed the main development vectors of the global and national energy sectors, oil and gas industries, energy markets, the various aspects of energy security.
Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan - Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Asset Issekeshev in his welcoming speech reminded that Kazakhstan won the right to hold in 2017 the World's Fair "EXPO", dedicated to the theme "Energy of the Future", and recently the country adopted the concept of "green "development. He stressed that the "greening" of the economy would be pragmatic, without creating barriers to the competitiveness of industry and the economy.
The country has adopted a goal of reaching 3 % share of RES in the energy mix by 2020 with its further increasing in the future.
“Kazakhstan demonstrates positive results in wind power development,” Chairman of the UWEA and Head of the CIS Wind Committee of World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) Andriy Konechenkov announced at the VIII KAZENERGY Forum in Astana. “To date, the first wind power plant has been under construction in Kazakhstan. I believe, Kazakhstan will be the second country after the Ukraine (among the former USSR countries) which demonstrates the positive results in wind development,” Andriy added.
The project’s main executor is a company “Samruk Energy” JSC. Ukrainian company “Furlaender Windtechnology” will supply 22 wind turbines with unit capacity of 2 MW produced in Ukraine (UWEA has already informed on this project: UWEA site, June 3, 2013).
MC “Wind Parks of Ukraine” and “Furlaender Windtechnology” presented their goods and services at the exhibition organized within the framework of the KAZENERGY forum.
According to Andriy Konechenkov, dynamics of wind projects implementation directly depends on state support and legislative framework existing in the country. The best practices of the U.S. and Europe should be used in the sphere of energy renewable resources as these countries successfully overcame the traditional energy opposition.
