Renewable Energy forum REF 2013, organized by IBCenter and APEU took place in Kiev on October 15-16, 2013. The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association acted as media partner of the event.
In his speech Andrei Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA and Head of the CIS Wind Committee of the World Wind Energy Association, focused on the current status of wind energy sector in Ukraine:
"In Ukraine now we have a paradoxical situation in the wind sector: on the one hand there has been an attractive " green " tariff for electricity generated from the wind since 2009, on the other hand, the updated Energy Strategy of Ukraine till 2030 not only significantly underestimates the share of wind power in the energy mix of the country, but also provides for strict limits on new wind capacities in the country . This fact creates a huge number of barriers to the further successful development of the national wind energy, and first of all, related to the connection of new wind farms to the grid”
