CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST WIND POWER PLANT IN ODESSA REGION

Odessa region of Ukraine will use environmentally friendly wind energy still in 2018. Construction of the first phase of the wind power plant  - Ovid Wind 1 with installed capacity of 32.4 MW was started in Ovidiopolsky district.

This project is implemented by the Turkish company Güriş Inşaat ve Muhendislik A. Ş., a member of Güriş group of companies. The first three wind turbines GE 3.6-131 with unit capacity of 3.6 MW, HH-131 m, were installed in late July 2018. The commissioning of the wind farm is planned for the autumn of this year. The capacity of the second phase of the project - Ovid Wind 2 is planned to be 50.4 MW, and the permitting process is continuing.

The first half of 2018 was quite successful for the wind energy sector of Ukraine demonstrating the best results over the past four years. According to NEURC, during the first six months totally 50.35 MW new wind capacities were added in Kherson and Mykolaiv regions. In addition, the construction of new wind farms is continuing in Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Ukraine's wind power industry generated 568 mln kWh of “green” electricity during the period. As of July 1, 2018, the total installed capacity of wind farms in the mainland Ukraine reached 515.5 MW.
