On November 27, 2013, the 3rd Electrical Industry Conference "Uninterruptable Power Supply and Automation Systems 2013" organized by the magazine "Seti and Business" (Grids and Business) took place at the Chamber of Commerce of Ukraine. The event brought together a large number of professionals from private and government organizations working in the field of power supply.
In his speech on the development of the wind energy sector in Ukraine after the adoption of "green” tariff , Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, Andrei Konechenkov noted that Ukraine now took the first place among the CIS countries in terms of the number of installed and commissioned wind energy capacities. Ukraine's share in the wind energy sector of the former Soviet Union countries (excluding the Baltic States) was 98% in 2012. According to the World Wind Energy Association, Ukraine ranked second in the world in terms of growth in wind energy capacity among the countries with an installed capacity exceeding 200 MW.
"These figures are the result of the introduction of "green" tariff for electricity generated from wind and strategic, economic and environmental benefits of wind energy in comparison with the conventional energy. At the same time, there are still some barriers to the successful development of wind energy in Ukraine. Among them - the existing grid interconnection mechanisms, issues related to the renewable electricity balancing and country risks", - said Andriy Konechenkov.
