IN UKRAINE THE FIRST WIND TURBINES OF MW CLASS HAVE BEEN PUT INTO OPERATION

On July, 11, 2011 an official commissioning of the first 10 wind turbines of Novoazovskiy Wind Farm took place in Donetskiy region, the Azov Sea coast.

The investment project Novoazovskiy Wind Farm with total capacity of 107,5 MW implies installation of 43 wind turbines produced by the German company Fuhrlander AG with unit capacity of 2,5 MW on the territory of the existing Novoazovskaya Wind Power Plant. The project implementation is scheduled for 2010-2014.

Currently 10 wind turbines with total capacity of 25 MW have been erected and commissioned. The implementation of the third phase of the project has been started, it involves commissioning of 32,5 MW.

During the project presentation the Chairman of Donetskaya Regional Administration Anatoliy Bliznyuk proudly noted “Today one unit produces electricity more than the whole wind farm of former design. In the long term 43 units of this type will produce annually almost half of electricity required by such a huge consumer as the city of Mariupol’”.  After the project presentation the Governor officially commissioned the first of 10 wind turbines installed on the territory of a wind farm.

Aleksander Prigornitskiy, General Director of Wind Park Nonoazovskiy LLC emphasized “Today we are celebrating not an ordinary event – it is not only a celebrations for us but for the whole Ukraine as well, as there is no facility of such type on the territory of our country and even on the whole post-Soviet area”.

The Chairman of UWEA Andriy Konechenkov attending the official project presentation of Novoazovskiy Wind Farm noted “Commissioning of wind turbines of MW class opens new possibilities for the Ukrainian wind sector development and changes the previously accepted ideology, shifting the focus from "the number of installed wind turbines" to "efficient wind turbines operation and wind energy production." Entry of modern international wind turbines manufacturers such as Vestas, Nordex, GE Wind, Gamesa, Fuhrlander into Ukrainian wind energy market will create healthy competition in the market and thus attract much more investors to the national wind energy."

UWEA’s Info:

The construction of Novoazovskaya Wind Power Plant located next to the village of  Bezimyannoe, Donetskiy region, the Azov Sea coast, started in 1997. It is. As of December 31, 2010 the total installed capacity of wind farm amounted to 21.8 MW.
