On June 17 2011 Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine introduced changes to the Article 171 of the Law of Ukraine “On Electrical Power Engineering” (concerning terms for stimulation of electricity production from alternative sources of energy).
According to the new edition “the stated order to stimulate electricity generation from renewable energy sources shall be applied provided that starting from January 1, 2012 a specific weight of raw materials, supplies, fixed assets, works and services of the Ukrainian origin in the cost of construction of the relevant facility of the power sector that generates electricity from renewable energy sources is not less than 15 percent; starting from January 1, 2013 – 30 percent and starting from January 1, 2014 it makes 50 percent. An additional condition for application of the stated procedure of encouragement of electricity generation with the use of solar energy is the use, starting from 1 January 2013, of solar modules at the power sector facilities in the cost of generation of which a specific share is not less than 30 percent and since January 1, 2014 - 50 percent”.
This Law shall come into force from the date of its publication after its signing by the President of Ukraine.
