About 3 000 experts gathered together for International Climate Change Conference opened on June 17, 2019 in Bonn to address numerous implementation issues under the Paris Agreement. The Bonn Climate Change Conference hosted a wide range of events, meetings and negotiating session to set the stage for raising ambition to curb greenhouse gas emissions, accelerate resilience-building efforts, and ensure that climate policy is built on a solid foundation of the best available science and knowledge. The Ukrainian delegation headed by Svetlana Grinchuk included representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Representatives of public organizations of Ukraine – Center for Environmental Initiatives Ecoaction (Ecodiya) and the Ukrainian Wind Energy association (EWEA) - participated as observers.
Initiated by the Global 100% Renewable energy initiative and by Renewable Energy Ambassador Ruslana in partnership with World Wind Energy Association and FridaysForFuture the first World REnew Day, which highlighted the need to switch to renewable energy, took place on the occasion of the June solstice. A large number of organisations from civil society, the renewable energy community, local governments and the scientific sector supported the initiative.
The official launch ceremony took place from 15:00 on 22 June at the UN Campus in Bonn, in parallel with the UN Climate Change Conference SB50.The World REnew Day 2019 celebrations included speakers from around the world highlighting the urgency of the switch to renewables and the benefits of such a move and artists including ESC winner and Global100RE Ambassador Ruslana performing.

In his speech to the audience Mayor of Bonn Ashok Sridharan announced the transition of the city to 100% RES.
Аndriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA, Vice President of the WWEA: “Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident is the worst ever technogenic catastrophe. Elimination of its consequences still requires huge injections of public funds. But no money could be enough to compensate for health of people exposed to radiation. About 8.4 million people in Ukraine, Belarus, the Russian Federation and other countries, in particular in Europe, were exposed to radiation from the Chernobyl explosion.
Green energy is a way to peace; it saves people's lives. In its new report, Bloomberg NEF published a forecast of renewable energy development until 2050. 50% of the world's energy will be renewable! I am confident that we will not only achieve this goal, we will exceed it. Our common goal is 100% Renewables!”
