CHAIRMAN OF THE UWEA BOARD AT THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE SKOLIVSKA WIND POWER PLANT

On 18 September 2024, Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board, attended the grand opening of the Skolivska wind power plant, the largest operational wind farm in the mountainous Lviv region, Ukraine. The total capacity of the WPP is 54.6 MW.

Skolivska WPP is a joint project between the Ukrainian company Eco-Optima LLC, UWEA’s member, and the Czech company MND. The total investment in the project amounted to UAH 2.1 billion, with the primary lender being the Ukrainian bank JSC Ukreximbank.

Skolivska WPP marks yet another successful implementation of a wind energy project during martial law. Although development began in 2021, the delivery of wind equipment and construction took place after the full-scale invasion of russia. Thanks to the resilience of Eco-Optima LLC, today around 100,000 residents of the region can receive electricity generated by wind power.

Andriy Konechenkov: “Since the start of the full-scale invasion, three new wind farms have been built in Ukraine, including Skolivska WPP, whose legal entity is Orivska LLC. What sets this plant apart from the other two is that the wind energy equipment was imported entirely during martial law. I'd also like to highlight the continued support of Western turbine manufacturers such as Nordex, Vestas, and GE. Although their staff temporarily left Ukraine for safety reasons, they remain committed to supporting Ukrainian wind energy projects despite the ongoing war. Together, we move forward to victory and new projects!

The UWEA congratulates Eco-Optima LLC on the successful launch of another wind energy project and wishes the company continued success, strong partnerships, and an expanding presence in the Ukrainian wind energy market!
