From September 24 to 27, 2024, the UWEA Secretariat, and the UWEA member companies, joined WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 – the world’s largest exhibition and conference on onshore and offshore wind energy. Held biennially in Hamburg, Germany, this year’s event celebrated its 10th anniversary, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries shaping the future of renewable energy. Among them were participants from Ukraine’s wind energy sector, represented at the UWEA’s dedicated stand.
This year’s stand was themed "W(i)ndependence: Freedom Through Energy," with the face of the exhibit being a stunning image of DTEK Renewables’ Tyligulska Wind Farm. A digital catalog, specially developed for the event, showcased key players in Ukraine’s wind market, featuring 12 companies contributing to the different components of an onshore wind power supply chain: https://uwea.webflow.io.
The UWEA stand was one of over 1,600 exhibitors spread across 75,000 square meters and 10 halls, while Ukraine stood among 40 nations represented at the exhibition. Over 300 speakers across five conference stages, accessible to all participants, shared their insights on the future of wind energy and its role in today’s global energy landscape. In more than 220 sessions and numerous networking events, politicians, business leaders, and scientists analyzed modern trends, introduced cutting-edge technologies, and explored wind energy’s role in tackling climate change and societal challenges.
One session was dedicated to Ukraine and the "Renewables4Ukraine" initiative, a charity campaign launched by the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) in cooperation with UWEA. The session was moderated by WWEA Secretary General, Stefan Gsänger, with Galyna Shmidt, UWEA Board Member and WWEA Vice President, as a keynote speaker.
The second half of the session focused on the current state of wind energy in Ukraine and its future development prospects. Among the speakers were Oleksandr Selishchev, CEO of DTEK Renewables and UWEA Board Member, Maksym Artemenko, Business Development Director at Elementum Energy, and Kateryna Knysh, Head of Analytics at UWEA.
Both, the UWEA stand and the session were of great interest to the exhibition participants, who this year numbered around 40,000 persons. 60 professionals represented the Ukrainian delegation.
