The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) and representatives of the national wind energy sector appealed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to address the current situation in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector caused by the National Committee on Regulation of Energy and Utilities Services of Ukraine that remains reluctant to review feed-in tariff for the companies generating energy from the RES in conformity with the existing legislation. Generating electricity from onshore wind is cheaper than gas, coal and nuclear when externalities are stacked with the levelised cost of energy and subsidies, according to an Ecofys study ordered and endorsed by the European Commission.Based on EWEA's analysis of the data in the report, onshore wind has an approximate cost of EUR 105 per megawatt hour (MWh) which is cheaper than gas (up to EUR 164), nuclear (EUR 133) and coal (between EUR 162-233). Offshore wind comes in at EUR 186 and solar PV has a cost of around EUR 217 per MWh.The total cost of energy production, which factors in externalities such as air quality, climate change and human toxicity among others, shows that coal is more expensive than the highest retail electricity price in the EU. According to T-Online, Energy suppliers in Germany are planning to completely or partially cut off 49 conventional power projects from the country’s grid, thanks to huge amount of solar and wind power capacity added to the grid in recent years. These projects will be disconnected from the electricity system because injection priority is given to renewable energy projects, which have made the 49 conventional power plants unprofitable, says local energy provider RWE. Decree by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “ On the National Renewable Energy Action Plan through 2020” # 902–p from October 1, 2014According to the EC Decree D / 2012/04 / MC-EnC Ukraine committed itself to reach the level of 11% of energy produced from renewable energy sources in the total energy consumption of the country by 2020. The country also provides to reach 2.28 GW of wind capacity, or 21% in the production of electricity from the RES. Approximate volume of funding required to meet the goals, is about 40.4 billion UAH ($ 3.11 billion).During the first half of 2014 new 126/5 MW wind capacities were added in the country bringing its total up to 497,6 MW (including 87,7 MW in the Crimea) by June 30, 2014.

The event organized for the first time in Hamburg and held from 23 to 26 September 2014, clearly demonstrated its international character - more than 33 000 visitors from all over the world, 1,250 exhibitors from 33 countries, 24 delegations from 22 countries.
