The World Wind Energy Association has launched today the Half-Year Report on Global Wind Market 2014.The key findings :• 17,6 GW of new installations in the first half of 2014, after 14 GW in 2013• Worldwide wind capacity has reached 336 GW, 360 GW expected for full year• Asia overtakes Europe as leading wind continent• China close to 100 GW of installed capacity• Newcomer Brazil: third largest market for new wind turbines• 360 GW expected by end of 2014

In July 2014, a Special Settlements Center (similar to the Ukrainian Wholesale Electricity Market) was set up in Crimea. The Settlements Center is a legal entity defined as the only authority to procure electricity from all producers both in Crimea and beyond, for delivery to Crimean customers. At the same time, according to the Decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, from May 29, 2014 since June 1, 2014 only the state foreign trade company "Ukrinterenergo" may procure and supply electricity to Crimea. In turn, PJSC "DTEK Krymenergo" shall purchase electricity for Crimea from the company "Ukrinterenergo" and then sell it to the "Settlements Center." It should be noted that in July 2014 the Ministry of Fuel and Energy of Crimea initiated changes to the Resolution of the State Council of Crimea "On Issues of Stable Operation of the Fuel and Energy Complex and Housing and Utilities in the Republic of Crimea". Industry associations including the Association of Alternative Fuel and Energy Market Participants of Ukraine (APEU), the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) and the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (UABio) appealed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to veto a bill "On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine and Some Other Legislative Acts of Ukraine (Concerning Improvement of Certain Provisions)" adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine at the closed seating on July 31, 2014. European Union countries to install 75GW of wind energy over next 7 years, an increase of 64% installed wind power capacity, bringing the total to 192.4 GW.Up to €124 billion in wind farm investments across the EU expected by 2020, creating 100,000 additional jobs by 2020. Wind turbine installations in the European Union will increase 64% by 2020 compared to 2013 levels, according to data compiled by the European Wind Energy Association. Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, has been elected for the second time as Chairman of the Public Council at State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE). Kazakhstan has become the second country on the territory of the former USSR with introduced feed-in tariff for electricity generated from the RES. On April 1, 2009 the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine “On Amending the Law of Ukraine “On Electric Power Industry” as to Stimulation of Alternative Energy Sources Use” according to which the preferential tariffs were offered to business entities to produce electric power from various types of renewable energy sources.
