11th World Wind Energy Conference 2012 "Community Power – Citizens’ Power"
Bonn, Germany, 3-5 July 2012 The World Wind Energy Association and the German Wind Energy Association welcome the presence of those 500 participants from 45 countries attending this conference, from wind and all other renewable energy technologies. It was reported by the Chairman of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association Andriy Konechenkov at the meeting of the Public Council under the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. Global Wind Day is building pressure on world leaders gathering next week for the Rio +20 Summit to commit to doubling the share of renewable energy by 2030.Today commercial wind power is deployed in more than 75 countries around the world, with 21 countries having more than 1000 MW installed. With reference to Vestas Wind Systems A/S’ company announcement No. 18/2012 of 27 April 2012 Vestas, the world leader in wind energy, is pleased to announce another sale in the key emerging market of Ukraine. Vestas’ newest customer, the DTEK Group, has ordered 30 V112-3.0 MW turbines. These turbines constitute the first part of the Botievo project, which will have a capacity of 195 MW when completed. The Botievo project is located in the coastal area of the Zaporozhye region, near the village of Botievo.The order includes supply, installation and commissioning of 30 V112-3.0 MW wind turbines, along with a VestasOnline® Business SCADA system. 13.3. mln loan to improve regional power supply and reduce carbon emissionsThe European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will provide 13.3 million euros ($17.6 million) for a wind farm in western Ukraine to improve power-supply reliability and reduce carbon-dioxide emissions. This is the first investment of EBRD into wind power generation in Ukraine.The financing will consist of a 10-year loan of 9.5 million euros from the EBRD and a 15-year loan of 3.8 million euros from the Clean Technology Fund.Eco-Optima Ltd., A Ukrainian-Italian joint venture company, will use the funds to build and operate a wind farm with a capacity of 12.5 megawatts in Stary Sambir district of Lviv region. With annual generation of around 25,5 GWh electricity the wind farm will supply power to more than 10,000 households. The plant will be operational by the end of this year and should reduce carbon emissions by about 26,000 tons a year, according to the statement released by EBRD on April 25, 2012....
