More and more companies are turning to wind energy to power their businesses, according to the Global Wind Energy Council. GWEC said wind energy has become fully mainstream and is today one of the fastest growing industrial sectors in the world, attracting $100 bn in investment in 2014. GWEC made the announcement of Global Wind Day, which occurs annually on 15 June. In Turkey and globally wind energy usage is increasing as every 30 minutes one wind energy turbine is installed in the world to provide clean and sustainable low cost energy, according to president of Turkish Wind Energy Association Tuesday.Wind energy president Mustafa Ataseven said during his opening speech at the First Intercontinental Wind Power Congress in Istanbul that nine years ago, Turkey only had 20-30 megawatts, MW, of installed capacity generated from wind energy.
