The European Wind Energy Association expresses its sincere condolences and sympathies to all those touched by the tragic events that unfolded in Paris on Friday 13 November. Our hearts and thoughts go out to them and the people of France at this very difficult time.
EWEA has been working closely with the local authorities and they have advised us to move forward with preparations for EWEA 2015 as intended. We have therefore decided that the EWEA 2015 event in the French capital this week must go ahead as planned.
We are taking all the necessary security and logistical measures to ensure the utmost safety and care is taken throughout the four-day event. I would like to assure everyone that EWEA has not taken this decision lightly, but we feel it is essential that we stand firm in the face of such adversity. We must continue as we mean to go on.

Worldwide wind capacity has reached 392 GW, 428 GW expected for full 2015 year.The worldwide wind capacity reached 392’927 MW by the end of June 2015, out of which 21’678 MW were added in the first six months of 2015. This increase is substantially higher than in the first half of 2014 and 2013, when 17,6 GW respectively 13,9 GW were added. All wind turbines installed worldwide by mid-2015 can generate 4 % of the world’s electricity demand.The global wind capacity grew by 5,8 % within six months (after 5,6 % in the same period in 2014 and 4,9 % in 2013) and by 16,8 % on an annual basis (mid-2015 compared with mid-2014). On July 20, 2015, National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities of Ukraine passed its Ordinance No 2046 “On Establishment of “green” tariffs for electricity generated by private households”. In compliance with the Ukrainian legislation the Ordinance has come into force on the day of its official publication, i.e. today, August 25, 2015.
According to the above mentioned Ordinance “green” tariffs for electric power generated by the installations installed in private households and using wind and/or solar energy (provided the total capacity of such installation does not exceed 30 kW) have been set as follow:
On June 4, 2015, the Ukrainian parliament adopted Draft Law on Introduction of Changes to Certain Laws of Ukraine with respect to Securing Competitive Conditions for Production of Electricity from Alternative Energy Sources, No. 2010-d of 19.05.2015 (the “Law”). Meeting between the members of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and the European Energy Community with the participation of the European Wind Energy Association took place in Vienna, Austria, on 3 July 2015. Participants discussed the regulatory challenges experienced by the Ukrainian wind industry, in particular, lack of indexation of the green feed-in tariff in the period of August 2014 – February 2015; cuts to the feed-in tariff in February and March 2015 and exclusion from the market of wind assets adjacent to conflict zones. Additional issues related to priority access, VAT recovery and import tariffs were highlighted as part of a generally challenging regulatory environment. On June 24, 2015 in the framework of a meeting hold by the Ukrainian Energy Assembly (UEA) two Ukrainian companies Tokmak Solar Energy and Wind Power presented their RE projects implemented in Zaporozhye region. Memebers of the Ukrainian Parliament, journalists and energy experts visited solar plant Tokmak Solar Energy and Botiyevskaya wind power plant. The wind power plant being composed of 65 wind turbines Vestas V 112 is one of the largest wind farms in the Central and Eastern Europe. Its total installed capacity amounts to 200 MW. The Botiyevskaya WPP located in the coastal area of the Azov Sea is the first plant to form the Priazovskiy Wind Park. The wind park will include two more wind power plants – Primorskaya (200 MW) and Berdyanskay (150 MW) WPPs which are at present in the pipeline.
