A press-conference "Wind Energy Industry in Ukraine: Prospects for Emerging Industry" devoted to the Global Wind Day was successfully conducted on June 14, 2013 in the premises of press-center of Internet Publisher "OBOZREVATEL". On June 3-5, 2013 Havana, Cuba, hosted the first Caribbean conference and exhibition dedicated to wind energy technologies "Opening Doors for Caribbean Wind", organized by the World Wind Energy Association and the of Study for Renewable Energy Technologies of Cuba (CETER). UWEA's representatives took an active part in this event. Presentation "New Vector in Wind Energy Development in Ukraine", made by Galina Schmidt, attracted much attention from the delegates. Andrey Konechenkov, chairman of the Board of the UWEA, chaired the conference session devoted to the popular today model "power for communities". He commented "In countries where local communities have initiated the development of wind power projects, today we can see a rapid growth of wind technologies, as well as improving the living standards of local residents". The press conference is devoted to the Global Wind Day which since 2007 has been celebrating annually all over the world. June 15th is a day for discovering wind, its power and the possibilities it holds to change our world. Press conference speakers includes:

China Beijing International High-tech Expo (CHITEC) is a regularly held large national high-tech expo with the approval from the State Council. The CHITEC integrates exhibition, forums and conferences.
This year it was the 16th edition of the CHITEC which was jointly hosted by several ministries of China and the Beijing Municipal Government in the period from May 21 till May 26, 2013.
In the frame of the 16th CHITEC there were 8 forums successfully conducted including Forum on China Strategic Emerging Industry Development.
The leaders of the CHITEC host ministries, some officials of international organizations, famous scholars and officials related were participated in the Forum and exchanged their ideas on hot topics. Technologies and equipment of Chinese origin presented at the 16th CHITEC were clear proof of the rapid development of innovative solutions in China.

Public Council at the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine chaired by Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, appealed to the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych regarding the Draft Updated Energy Strategy of Ukraine, currently being available for public discussion at the website of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine. In their letter addressed to the President of Ukraine, the Public Council's members expressed their big concern on the understatement of energy efficiency measures and renewable energies in the above mentioned document and called on the President to take action to mandatory improvement of a Draft Updated Energy Strategy, taking into account all the proposals made by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine,relevant ministries, professional associations and other expert institutions.
The Sitting devoted to the construction of wind farms in the Lugansk region took place on April 24, 2013 in Lugansk Regional State Administration. During his presentation General Director of Management Company "Wind Parks of Ukraine," Mr. Vladislav Eremenko announced the start of the of three major projects aimed at construction of wind farms in Krasnodonskiy, Lutuginskiy and Antratsitovskiy districts with planned capacity of 425 MW, 225 MW and 225 MW correspondingly. The foundation of the first wind turbine in the area of Krasnodonskiy district has been already laid. On April 17, 2013 the Global Wind Energy Council released its Annual Market Update. Despite policy uncertainty in the main OECD markets, strong wind markets in China, India and Brazil, as well as in new markets in Latin America, Africa and the rest of Asia will drive global growth during the next 5 years. "Wind power may be variable, but the greatest threat to the continued stable growth of the industry is the variability and unpredictability of the politicians who set the frameworks for the energy sector", said Steve Sawyer, GWEC Secretary General. On February 28, 2013 the Rules for connecting electricity generating plants to electric grids as approved by NERC Resolution No.32 dated 17.01.2013 entered into force. According to the Rules, electricity transmission companies shall not deny access to its gird provided that the customer meets the requirements of the Rules. Connection services shall be provided pursuant to the connection agreement. The fee for connection to the grid is determined by the electricity transmitting organization according to the relevant fee calculation method as approved by NERC on 12.02.2013, No.115. The Methodology provides for standard vs. non-standard connection. Thus, customer payment for standard connection shall be based on appropriate rates approved by NERC and the power capacity claimed by the customer. Whether you are a photography novice or aficionado, we encourage you to submit up to three photos supplemented with a short text explaining what wind energy means to you. Deadline for submissions is 5 May 2013. Prize winners will be announced on Global Wind Day, the worldwide day to 'discover the power of wind energy' that occurs annually on 15 June.
