From September 24 to 27, 2024, the UWEA Secretariat, and the UWEA member companies, joined WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 – the world’s largest exhibition and conference on onshore and offshore wind energy. Held biennially in Hamburg, Germany, this year’s event celebrated its 10th anniversary, bringing together industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries shaping the future of renewable energy. On 18 September 2024, Andriy Konechenkov, Chairman of the UWEA Board, attended the grand opening of the Skolivska wind power plant, the largest operational wind farm in the mountainous Lviv region, Ukraine. The total capacity of the WPP is 54.6 MW. Skolivska WPP is a joint project between the Ukrainian company Eco-Optima LLC, UWEA’s member, and the Czech company MND. The total investment in the project amounted to UAH 2.1 billion, with the primary lender being the Ukrainian bank JSC Ukreximbank. Skolivska WPP marks yet another successful implementation of a wind energy project during martial law. Elementum Energy, the UWEA’s member company, whose shareholder is the British investor VR Global Partners, L.P., is preparing to build three mini wind farms with a total capacity of 58.5 MW. The Danube project, which will consist of the Kiliya, Artsyz, and Artsyz-2 wind farms, each with an installed capacity of 19.5 MW, will be implemented in the Odesa region. According to the company, the annual production of "green" electricity from each wind farm is expected to be around 66 GWh, which will be sufficient to save 48,708 tons of carbon emissions annually. On 13 August 2024, the Government of Ukraine has taken two significant and long-awaited steps to develop further the national renewable energy sector, particularly wind power: Approved the National Renewable Energy Action Plan by 2030. Endorsed a document outlining the schedule and conditions for pilot auctions to allocate support quotas to renewable energy producers. On 05 August 2024, the national transmission system operator NPC “Ukrenergo” held a forum “Decentralized Generation: New Opportunities for Business and Communities.” The event brought together representatives from industry authorities, businesses, relevant associations, the public, analytical centers, and other stakeholders. On June 27, 2024, the UWEA participated in the third meeting of the post-mediation dialogue for renewable energy market players, initiated and led by the Energy Community Secretariat (EnCS).
