During 2013, 10,917 MW of new wind energy capacity came on line in the EU-28, a decrease of 8% compared to 2012. There are now 116,774 MW installed the EU, meeting 8% of EU electricity demand, and a further 4,188 MW in the rest of Europe. The overall EU installation level masks significant volatility across Europe. Kiev, 15.01.2014The successful development of the Ukrainian wind market continued in 2013.According to the market survey conducted by the experts of the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association, new 95,3 MW wind capacities were added in the country in 2013. Thus, by December 31, 2013 the cumulative installed capacity of wind energy sector in Ukraine reached 371,2 MW compared to 276 MW in 2012, which corresponds to a growth rate of 56%. In general, by the end of 2013 the total capacity of the wind turbines erected in the country amounted to 472,9 MW, out of which 101,7 MW to be grid connected in the first quarter of 2014. In addition, the construction of a number of new wind power plants (WPPs) started in Lugansk and Kherson regions and in Crimea. Production of one of the most complex and large-sized wind turbine parts – nacelle frame was presented in Kramatorks late December. Such structural element of a wind turbine has been manufactured in Ukraine for the first time. The order for production of the nacelle frame for a 2.5 MW wind turbine was placed by FWT-Ukraine which has been actively developing its own production of components for the wind industry. In 2013, the company acquired a license from the German company W2E (Wind-to-Energy) for the production of wind turbines of 2.05, 2.5 and 3 MW.The nacelle frame has been produced by the specialists of Novokramatorsky Mashinostroitelny Zavod - NKMZ (Novoktamatorsk Machine Building Works). On December 4, 2013 Kazakhstan's capital Astana hosted the International Investment Forum on Renewable Energy organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), сompany Ernst & Young, the Association of Renewable Energy of Kazakhstan and the world leading wind manufacture – Danish company Vestas. Wind Park “Novoazovskiy” LLC, Donetsk region, which is a part of the group “Wind Parks of Ukraine”, has received an EBRD loan of 33,3 million and a parallel loan from the Clean Technologies Fund (CTF) of € 15.5 million. The full amount has been already credited to the company’s account. On 6 November 2013, at a seminar "Wind Farms Development", a joint initiative with the German Wind Energy Institute (DEWI GmbH), the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) presented a guide entitled "Implementation Phases of Projects for Construction of Wind Power Generating Facilities." This document is a result of many months of work of its authors including Yaroslav Petrov, expert for energy projects at Asters, and Maksym Sysoiev, attorney and head of Energy and Power practice group at Danevych Law Firm.
